Renewal by Andersen® Energy-Efficient Glass Packages

Window glass is arguably the most important part of every window replacement unit on the market. Since it occupies the largest window area, the choice of glass package is crucial to its long-term performance. Renewal by Andersen® of Nashville takes a closer look at our energy-efficient glass packages.

Dual Pane Glass

Glass is a naturally conductive material, which means, by itself, it isn’t as effective as a barrier between your indoor and outdoor spaces. This is a common problem with traditional windows. Single-pane glass tends to conduct heat both ways, resulting in heat loss during the winter season and heat gain in the summer. As the heating and cooling systems compensate, more energy is consumed.

Dual-pane glass solves this problem by eliminating direct contact between interior and exterior surfaces. The lack of conduction between two glass panels dramatically slows down heat conduction, complementing the insulation found in the walls and the attic. Dual-pane glass also complements the inherent energy efficiency of window styles, such as picture and casement windows.

High-Performance™ Low-E4® Glass

Renewal by Andersen replacement windows are equipped with standard High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, which comes in three different packages:

  • High-Performance Low-E4 Glass — Our standard glass package features exceptional energy efficiency and long-term performance. The low emissivity (Low-E) coating blocks up to 84% of ultraviolet (UV) rays. Compared to ordinary dual-panel glass, High-Performance Low-E4 glass is up to 47% more energy-efficient in the winter season and up to 56% in the summer.

  • High-Performance Low-E4 SmartSun™ Glass — Our most energy-efficient glass package features up to 70% better energy efficiency in the summer and 49% in the winter. The low emissivity coatings can block up to 95% of UV rays. If you love bright-colored fabrics and interior decor, this is the glass package for you.

  • High-Performance Low-E4 Sun Glass — If you find the sunlight in a particular room too bright for your eyes, you need our Sun glass package. In addition to the benefits offered by our SmartSun glass option, Sun glass features a subtle tint that softens natural light without darkening the room.
